This painting in the my first work completed in 2010, The Year of the Tiger. I am a cold metal tiger (born in 1950). As a Libra, this work represents a visual balance of wild and gentle. The colors of sunflowers and tigers a similar, their purpose in life diametrically opposed. The morphing of these two elements is a surprise, offering a new way to look at both. Will the tiger be gentle or will it tear off your hand as you reach for the flower? The bold brush strokes and splatters, bright colors, and tropical patterns make this new work a classic.

BRIEF artist’s statement for M. GOODWILL

I was born smack in the middle of the 20th century in California, USA. I have a fine arts education (I graduated from CCAC in 1972) spiced with living overseas as a youth and topped with extensive world travels.

As long as I can remember I wanted to be an artist.

So, for over 35 years I have been working as a professional artist, creating paintings and sculptures as well as unique pieces of art in response to challenging commissions.

My original artworks can be found in numerous galleries, private collections and in public spaces worldwide. My images have been made into fine art reproductions, limited editions, and licensed products including calendars, shower curtains, gift bags, mugs, journals, glass ware, software, and designer fabrics.

My desire is to continue to expand creatively, embrace life’s opportunities, and to take advantage of the synchronicities of my times.

I am learning to appreciate abundance and joy. I value my health, my good sense of humor, my love, and my inspirations.
